Are We There Yet

A couple weeks ago Justin and I decided we would take the kids down to Port St. Lucie to visit my family.  Between work, school, and practices we knew that this past weekend would probably be the only time we could make it down there for the next few months. We both took Friday off so we drove down there on Thursday night after Seth's t-ball practice.  It's a 5 hour drive so we knew we had a long night ahead of us.
The kids watched a movie on my iPad and played some video games on the DS on the way down.  When they had exhausted their entertainment options they fell asleep. We got to my brother's house at about 1:00 a.m. and they both popped up wide awake.  Gracelyn (my niece, 4) woke up when we got there and was thrilled to see McKayla.  They decided to share a bed and immediately got to chatting.
On Friday I gave Justin a tour of the homes I had lived in and the schools I went to when I lived in Stuart/Palm City.  We also stopped at one of my favorite sandwich shops for lunch, Bob's Deli.  That night we all hung out at the house while the kids played.  My brother Ryan and his wife Christa have 3 kids.  Gracelyn is 4, Griffin is 2, and Jack is just over 3 months old.  It made for a fun and loud house.

The kids loved piling on top of my brother!
On Saturday, Justin and I took the kids to Traditions (a shopping center) for some shopping. Old Navy was having a sale so with my mom's help we stocked the kids up on some spring and summer clothes.  Afterwards my mom took us to lunch and bought the kids some yummy ice cream.

Port St. Lucie was having a St. Patty's Day carnival so that night we took the kids. The first ride was a very very small roller coaster. McKayla and Griffin were the only ones brave enough to ride it. Unfortunately, Griffin found it so scary that he wouldn't go on anything else.  He never cried but would shake his head and say no with a terrified look on his face when you offered another ride.  Seth wasn't too keen on the idea of all the rides either so McKayla and Gracelyn got to ride the most.  We did however get Seth onto the Carousel.
I love this picture because we have a very similar one of McKayla when she was younger.
Sunday came much too quickly but we did squeeze in enough time to see my dad for lunch.  We met him, my step-mom, and my grandparents on Sunday in West Palm Beach at The Cheesecake Factory.  It was a great way to end our weekend.
The drive back was very long and uneventful.  Due to spring break the roads were very busy and slow moving.  The kids were getting pretty restless in the car so we were very excited, 7.5 hours later, when we finally made it back to Tallahassee.   We even had enough time for Mimi and Papa to come over for a few minutes.
Next week Justin and I will be headed to Savannah for a few days for some much needed rest and relaxation.  The kids will be with their mom for spring break so we'll have to go 2 whole weeks without them. :-( I'm sure we'll survive but things are much more exciting when they're here.

Take me out to the ball game...

We have started T-Ball!!! Seth had his first practice ever on Tuesday at Buck Lake Elementary.  His team is the Bucklake Braves and Justin is an assistant coach.  This works out well for me since my favorite professional team is the Atlanta Braves.
Here is Seth ready for his first practice!
I have never seen a child so excited for anything in my life.  Here are some of the questions he asked me:
What if I hit a homerun?
What if I don't hit a homerun?
Will I get to wear my t ball stuff for the whole time?
Who will be there?
Will everyone get to see me in my new clothes?
Can you be a coach too?
How far away is it?
Is it at a real field?
How much longer until we get there?
This went on and on for the entire 20 minute drive there.  Once his coach came out he did AWESOME! He listened, followed directions, and played well.  He was definitely one of the best ones out there and one of the most well behaved too (so what if I'm a little biased).
Seth is not the only one with exciting news.  McKayla has moved up into level 4 on her gymnastics team.  This means the competition is starting to get a little more intense.  Over the next 9 months she will have 6 competitions, a spring fling, and the winter wiggle.  She has really worked hard over the past 6 months and is very excited.  She will also have many fundraisers for her gym so be on the lookout for ways to support her :-)
