Hey Batter Batter!

I have been dying to make this post but just haven't had the time.  As I mentioned before we signed Seth up for T-ball and he LOVES it.  Last weekend he had his first game ever and he could not have been more excited.  I came prepared with my camera and took tons of pictures (214 to be exact). Dont worry, I won't post all of those.

In T-ball they have a time limit of one hour so they usually only get to play 3 or 4 innings.  An inning ends after the batting team has 3 outs or after 8 players have batted. In the first inning Seth was the pitcher. In T-ball this position and first usually get the most amount of activity because the ball isn't typically hit very far.  We were a little nervous for him to be in this active position for his first inning of his first game but he was AWESOME!!! He threw all 3 outs to first base and was very proud of himself.  Here are some pictures of him as the pitcher.

Some last minute coaching from dad.
 Ready for the ball.
About to make an out.

He also played first base, short stop, and center field.  They like to rotate the kids around so they get the best chance to make plays.  Seth seemed to enjoy playing first but he found short stop to be boring.  He was getting a little aggravated that none of the balls were coming his way.  Center field also proved to be uneventful.

Seth was also a great batter.  He got on base 4 times and scored 3 runs. You can tell he loves running the bases.  He grins the entire time he's running.

He had a great first game and I'm so glad I got to be there for it.  He also had a game on Tuesday night where he played equally well.  I haven't gotten a good picture of him batting but luckily I have several weeks to get one.
Here are some more pictures from the game...

Our Wedding

So after blogging about the Ishley wedding I decided it was about time I blogged about my own wedding.  As many of you already know, Justin and I have had a whirlwind romance.  We met on July 28th and were married just 5 months and 3 days later on New Year's Eve 2010.  One of our favorite songs that reminds us of eachother and how rapidly we fell in love is "Why Wait" by Rascal Flatts.  If you haven't heard it then find it, it's a great song.  That's also where the title of this blog came from.  One of the lines in the song is "...ain't like it ain't gonna happen, forever's a given, it's already written, who we kiddin' baby come on." If you listen to the song you'll see it fits us perfectly!

I'm sure you're expecting some romantic story about how Justin got down on one knee and held the perfect ring up and proposed but, that's not what you're gonna hear.  You're gonna hear the true story and it's a hell of lot more romantic than that! Now I know you've already heard the short version, so here's the whole story of how we decided to get married...

One night in mid November we were sitting on the couch discussing and dreaming about our future, you know...big wedding, bigger house, and more kids.  We knew that realistically, these dreams couldn't come true anytime soon but we were certain we wanted to be together all the time.  Moving in together seemed like a good idea but it just didn't seem like enough.  Justin said that if he could he would go out and buy me a dream ring right then and there and we'd have a huge wedding but on our budget that just wasn't possible.  He also said that he'd be just as happy going down to the court house and getting married.  I knew I didn't want that.

The next day I thought and thought about it and decided that there really wasn't any reason we couldn't get married.  I talked about it with my best friend Sam and she agreed that if we both wanted to, there was no reason we shouldn't.  Now we just had to figure out the minor details like when, where, and how.  I quickly decided that New Year's Eve would be perfect because there's already a party atmosphere in the air.  The next thing to decide was the venue.  Where can you get married that's beautiful, cheap, and needs minimal decoration? Park Avenue Chain of Parks! It's already lit up with white lights for the Christmas season, it's public (free), beautiful, and already decorated.  Dinner was also easy to decide, Marie Livingston's Steakhouse made for the perfect reception.  Luckily, Justin's dad is a minister so he could marry us.  Now we just needed wedding bands.  Justin's parents kindly gave us his mom's anniversary band and it is gorgeous (I get compliments on it all the time).  The only thing left was Justin's ring and it wasn't hard to find one we both loved. Everything literally just fell into place.

It really wasn't a big production.  There weren't any formal invitations, no wedding party, no D.J, and no walking down the aisle.  There was friends, family, a photographer (my sister in-law), flowers, cake (made by me), and the two of us.  It was all we needed and it truly was perfect!

I'll quick talking now and let some of my favorite pictures tell the story...

The Ishley Wedding

I know you all have been anxiously waitng for a new post. Well, maybe not all of you, but I know my mom and Justin's mom have been. So here it is and get ready for several more over the next week.

Last summer Ashley Barlow, a good friend of mine, did me the honor of asking me to make her wedding cake.  Although I was nervous about taking on such a huge task I was more than happy to have her as my first ever wedding cake order.  I have had several party cake orders over the past few years but never a wedding cake.  So last Friday night, April 1st, I spent most of my evening trying to make the perfect wedding cake for Ashley and Jason.  I then spent all night having nightmares about the cake falling over, the cake caving in, Justin driving off with the cake on the roof of the car, the kids trying to eat the cake, and many other ways a cake could be destroyed.  At 4:00 A.M. I woke up in a sweat, ran into the dining room, and stared at the cake for several minutes to make sure it hadn't somehow been ruined in the few hours I had been sleeping. Thankfully, the cake made it safely to the Golden Eagle Country Club.

Ashley, Jason, and the guests all seemed to love it and that was a huge relief.

The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, the party was a blast, and the bride and groom looked perfect.  Here are some pictures of all the fun.

Congratulations to Jason and Ashley Ishley!!!
