Other Updates and Such

I have been so busy updating everyone on our summer chain of events that I haven't had a chance to mention much else that is going on in our lives right now.  So here goes...

Justin and I stay very busy when the kids are here and when they aren't.  When the kids are here we do our best to devote as much time as possible to them and activities that are family/child friendly so many of the "chores" that have to be done don't get done while they are here.  It seems like when the kids leave we spend the following week catching up on all the stuff we didn't get done while they were here.  Things like laundry, cleaning the house, cleaning our cars, paying bills, catching up on work, writing papers for grad school, completing an internship, giving the dog some much needed attention, grocery shopping for when they come back, and planning more activities that we think they'll enjoy.  Not to mention trying to enjoy some quality alone time without missing them too much! Another thing we've spent alot of time on is house hunting.  We have gone back and forth between buying and renting several hundred times now and finally decided that it would be best to rent until we were sure of the kind of house we wanted.  So, a week ago we finally found a house we love and we will be moving in on August 1st!!! I don't have any pictures of the house just yet, but here is the one the owners posted in their ad.
I promise to post more pictures once we're moved in.  It's a 4 bedroom 2 bath house with a 2 car garage on a corner lot.  It's got a good sized yard and even has a playset in the backyard.  I'm dying to move in mostly because we will have much more space then we do right now.  For those of you that live in Tallahassee, it's located in Killearn Lakes.

We also have some other exciting things going on right now.  McKayla started dance classes this summer and she's been loving them.  This past week she went to dance everyday and learned a jazz routine she had to perform at an audition for the Jazz team, Thunder.  This morning we drove up to the doors of Dance Electric (where she attends dance) to find out if her name had been posted on the list of girls that made the team.  It was!!! She is super excited to be on team Thunder and as a result she will get to perform at several different events in Tallahassee such as Downtown Getdowns.  Since I was a dancer as well, I'm overjoyed at the idea that she loves dance.  I must say, she's pretty good at it and picks up her routines quickly. Here she is ready for tryouts.

Seth had baseball camp earlier in the summer and it continues to be his favorite sport.  Unfortunately, baseball won't start up again until March.  After looking up some available options for the fall we decided on flag football.  We signed him up and he will be starting in September.  He has also decided that he wants his winter sport to be basketball.  He was very good at baseball and I have no doubt that he will be good at football as well.

Both kids also did swim lessons this summer.  They did a two week session with the City of Tallahassee at the Trousdell pool.  At the end of their sessions they each got a certificate to display that showed how far into each level they made it.  When they go back next summer Seth will be starting on level 5.  He can now dog paddle, float on his back and stomach, and swim underwater.  McKayla made it through level seven and will begin with level 8 next year.  She can now swim quite well and even do the back stroke for 25 yards.

I think that pretty much brings you up to date.  We also have 3 birthdays coming up at our house.  Justin will celebrate his August 31st, Seth on September 25th, and McKayla on October 3rd.  I have some exciting things planned for them but we'll have to keep them a secret for now. :)

Summer Chain of Events: Week 3

I hope you're ready because this is going to be a long one full of pictures (if you click on the pictures they will enlarge).  I know that I'm way behind but I knew this post was going to take me awhile so I had to wait until I had some time.  We spent our third week of summer with the kids at my dad's house in Dandridge, Tennessee.  We did not bring the chain of events with us but lord knows we had plenty of new and exciting activities to keep us busy.

Saturday, Day 16:

Friday night Justin and I packed up the car so we could start our drive at the early hour of 4:00 a.m. We decided to do this so that the kids would sleep in the car for awhile and we wouldn't have to entertain them too much.  That worked out well and at about 7:00 everyone was awake and ready for breakfast.  After that the kids watched a movie on their portable blue ray players.  We decided a nine hour drive was too long not to make a big stop so we decided to visit Rock City in Chattanooga, TN.

Check out Fenway's tongue!

On a rope bridge.

Picture perfect view!

A beautiful Rock City waterfall.

From there we had about two more hours until we reached my dad's house.  After we settled in, my dad took us and my grandparents to a Tennessee Smokies baseball game. Unfortunately, Donna (my step mom) had to sit this one out due to a knee injury.

This is the only picture we have at the game and it was taken on Justin's phone.

Sunday, Day 17:
Sunday was full of new activities on and around the lake.  There was rides on the 4-wheeler with Grandpa, tubing behind the boat, fishing, and a huge firework show put on by the Marina.

 Daddy was giving rides too!

I think she's having a good time :-)

Getting ready to go tubing for the first time.

Holding on tight!

 Loving it!!!

EWWWWW!!!

We never caught anything but we had fun trying.

Monday, Day 18: Happy 4th of July!!!

Monday was especially exciting because it was the fourth of July and we got to pick up my brother and his family from the airport.  Once all the kids were together they had a great time on the slip 'n' slide, putting on "shows" for us, doing our own fireworks, and letting off lanterns (like in the movie Tangled).

McKayla is having fun!

Even grandpa joined in on the fun.

The following three AWESOME pictures were taken by my sister-in-law, Christa.

Our very patriotic dog, Fenway!

Tuesday, Day19:

On our 4th day in Tennessee we spent lots of time on the lake swimming, tubing, wakeboarding, taking boat rides, and daddy and uncle Ryan even rented wave runners.

Rides with daddy!

Family fun!

I got to wakeboard for my first time ever!!!

Ryan and Gracelyn.

Baby Jack just hung out and enjoyed the view :-)

Wednesday, Day 20:

My dad and step-mom were kind enough to treat us all to Dollywood's Splash Country water park.  We all rode lots of waterslides, spent time in the wave pool, and had a blast.  Unfortunately, because of all the water we didn't take any pictures.

Thursday, Day 21:

This was our last full day in Tennessee.  We spent it tie dying shirts, taking boat rides, tubing, wakeboarding, and swimming.

A beautiful picture of McKayla courtesy of Aunt Christa.

This was something the kids loved to do and it saved them from those long walks up the hill.

Friday, Day 22:

On friday we had to drop Ryan and his family off at the airport and head back to Tallahassee.  It was a long trip back but well worth the drive.  While we were in Tennessee we got to spend time with my dad, my step-mom, my grandparents, my aunt and uncle, my cousin Matt, my brother and his family (Christa, Gracelyn, Griffin, and Jack).  It was a great family trip and we look forward to doing it again next summer!
