Toes in the water...

Last Saturday was a gorgeous warm day here in Tallahassee and we knew that Sunday would be too.  Justin and I both LOVE the beach and we decided it would be warm enough on Sunday to at least enjoy the sun and sand even though the water would still be to cold. So Saturday night we took the kids to Walmart and got some sand toys, drinks, and chips for the trip to the beach.  Sunday morning we checked the weather for St. George Island, got our bathing suits on, packed the cooler, packed the van, and lathered up on the sunscreen, and started the 1.5 hour drive to the beach.

We were listening to the radio, eating snacks, and having a great time.  As we were driving, Justin and I became aware that the outside thermostat was actually dropping in temperature and it it was looking kind of cloudy.  We decided it would get better so we pressed on.  Another 30 minutes down the road and it was foggy.  I mean seriously foggy.  We couldn't see 30 feet in front of us.  That's when we decided we'd better just turn around.  We knew the kids would be disappointed so we told them we'd take them to Fun Station Jr. (used to be Zoinks).  That seemed to satisfy them well enough so the kids and I took a nap while Justin drove us back to Tallahassee.
Once we got back in town we did go to Fun Station Jr. It's one of those big arcades that has games for tokens where you can win tickets.  It also has enormous jump houses that are perfect for getting your wiggles out.  After that we headed to Lofty Pursuits because we had coupons for free ice cream cones.  Yummy!

When we got home it was still light out so we decided to do this...
and this...

and this...

Justin decided that just because we couldn't go to the beach didn't mean we couldn't look out the window and see it. :-)

That night we finished up McKayla's project on Jane Goodall.  She worked really hard on it and was very excited to present it to her class.  She called on Tuesday night and was very excited to report that she got a 100%!!! My only regret is that we didn't take any pictures of her practicing it at home.  She really is quite the presenter.
We never did get our toes in the water but all in all it was a very successful Sunday.
